The Society for the Preservation and Defense of Fluff
The First Annual Stargate Fluff Awards

In honor of all things fluffy, the SPDF is proud to announce the First Annual Fluff Awards, honoring fic that focuses on the happier side of our favorite Stargate shows.

Here’s How It Works:

Like all fan awards, we are dependant on your participation. Shortly, there will be a Nomination Post. All comments to this post will be screened, and all you have to do is reply with the following information:

Title of the fic you are nominating
Author of the fic
• A valid link to the fic
Category (character, pairing, friendship, genre, etc.)

Please note that all nominations without a VALID link will be deleted.

The provided categories will help us best place the nominated fic in the awards, but are in no way binding.

Nominations will be accepted until February 26, 2008 March 21, 2008.

Nominating Criteria
1. All valid fics that are nominated will be included in the awards.
2. The awards encompass fanfiction written for both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.
3. Nominated fics do NOT have to be written within the last year – any fic within the Stargate fandom is eligible.
4. We encourage all het ships, crossovers, AUs, gen, and every bit of team!fic possible.
5. Works in Progress are NOT valid nominations and will be deleted.
6. At this time, we are not accepting slash or femslash nominations.
7. There is no limit to the number of fics you may nominate, however please remember that each author may only have ONE fic nominated per category. Any fics beyond this limit will be shifted to another category or deleted.
8. Self-nominations are allowed.

After the nominations have been collected and organized, polls will be posted to the SPDF community for each category along with the links to each nominated story. There will be a reading and voting period of approximately three weeks.

The results will be visible only by the awards maintainers. The winners will be announced two to three weeks after the close of voting.

Opting Out: We understand that some nominees may prefer NOT to be included in this year's SPDF honors. If that is the case, please drop us an email and your nominations will be deleted.

Spread the word! Nominate fic! Vote! Tell people about what we’re doing so they can join in the fun!

Maybe he read your report

Sounds like fun, but what are the categories?

For the noms, we'd just like you to specify the category you think a fic would fit best in. (This is not necessarily the category it will end up in, but a good guess will help us immensely later on.)

We don't know how many submissions we'll get, and if it's small, we may just have one big category. But probably there will be gen-character, gen-team, friendship, crossover, and het pairings.

Hope you can play! :)

Not this year. We're a very, very small team of people and none of us are really well-versed enough in slash or femmeslash that we felt confident trying to take it on. If this year is a success and we happen to find another team member who has more working knowledge of those genres, we'll be happy to open it up next year. :-)

Atlantis- McShep/Look of Love

Wow, I'm sorry you're not including slash, because there are a *lot* of excellent writers who create wonderful, loving, happy fic in that category. I know you're a small comm, but from what I can tell, you're eliminating a large portion of the fandom.

I recognize that there are some great slash fluff fic writers out there, and would have loved to include them. The problem is that the awards team this year is only three people, and none of us really are familiar enough with the slash world to feel okay with the sorting and getting everything organized that we would need to.

If this year is a success, I hope to be able to find an interested slasher and open the awards to slash next year.

Perhaps if you added a note to your advertisements indicating a need for slash volunteers, you'd get the necessary help to open these awards to slash and femslash. I predict that quite a few would respond to such a plea.

This year, I think it wouldn't really be fair to when there are only three days left in the nominating process. But next year, I will be doing that first thing, I promise. After all, people from every bit of fandom should join together in their love of fluff!

Also, randomly? I adore your icon. It made me laugh.
